Out of the masses into which we are grouped from the beginning
of school days, we must emerge as individuals unique and distinctive.
The search for individuality and distinction is filled with many moods
trials and experiences. We present this search in the challenging
1973 Coahoman theme: "Individualism" - Out of the masses steps an
individual. We present this thoughtful and meaningful study of
Coahoma in words and pictures.

OUT OF THE MASSES

STEPS AN INDIVIDUAL

DEDICATION

\'

IK*

4

MRS. DOROTHY AMSTRONC

Out of the Agricultural High School faculty steps an individual who
has stood the test of the times.

For a number of years you have volunteered your time, your skill
and your best typing students to help produce a quality Coahoma Junior
College and Agricultural High School Yearbook. Because of your dedi-
cation and cooperation in the overall production; because ofyour effi-
cient supervision of the A.H.S. Staff; because you have gone beyond
the call of duty by taking your staff home after hours to help us meet
Deadlines; and because you have also been an excellent Senior High
School Sponsor, we salute you as a true and tried Coahoman and dedi-
cate this 1973 Coahoma to you, Mrs. Dorothy Armstrong, our co-spon-
sor, teacher and friend.

OUTSTANDING JUNIORS

JOSEPH McNARY, a junior at Aggie High, attended the
National 4-H Club Congress in Chicago, November 26-30, as a
result of winning first place in statewide 4-H competition. The
all expense paid trip is considered to be one of the highest hon-
ors attainable by a 4-H member.

McNary submitted a 4-H senior record in Career Exploration
for state competition and took first place. Career Exploration,
a 4-H project, offers an opportunity for older boys and girls to
find out early in life something about themselves, their interests,
things they can do well and something about the opportunities
that may open to them.

This 4-H'er has been part of the organization for six years.
He has completed many projects such as citizenship, leadership,
safety, garden, personal development, and public speaking. He
is also active in school, as president of his class, from 9th- 11th
grade, a member of the student council, a member of the high
school choir, and an honor student.

DENISE TOWNSEL, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Odess Town-
sel, is a member of the basketball team and track team. She
is also a member of the F.B.L. A. Club. Denise is a very active
student in curriculum activities.

In sports, she is a hustler and has won a trophy for her hus-
tling abilities. She has made the honor roll for three consecu-
tive years with the average of 2. 60 to 3. 00. Her hobbies are
sports, dancing, and cooking.

She is a member of the Mt. Mariah M. B. Church in
Coahoma, Miss. She plans to attend Lincoln University in
Jefferson City, Missouri after graduation next year.

MEDICAL TECHNICIAN

President James E. Miller announced the opening of the Office of Contii.
during the Spring of 1972. Simultaneously, McKinley C. Martin was appointed director.
Mr. Martin was then a candidate for the Ph. D. Degree at Florida State Universit) .
Martin finished all requirements for that Degree in June and again became a full-time em
ployee at Coahoma Junior College.

Since that time Dr. Martin has conducted several workshops in consultative roles across
the country; but his greatest service delivery has been through Evening College efforts <
campus, Extension efforts in three counties, and the Media Technician Training

Programs administered through the Office of Continuing Education have directly affected
the lives of many individuals in the counties where Extension classes have been organized.
During the fall quarter, six Extension classes were taught and five Evening College Classes
(campus). The winter quarter Extension classes increased to nine with an average per-class
enrollment of 26.5. Evening College campus courses dropped to four with an average en-
rollment of nine.

The MTTP is a training program funded through the Public Service Careers 1
the Department of Labor and administered through the Bureau of Libraries and Lea Re-

sources of the Office of Ed. , U. S. Department of Health, Education and Welfare.

This program is designed to train 18 para -professionals to provide a needed service in
the area of library services or learning resource services. The program has three concerns -
service, process, and content. The program provides the participants with a skill; Li
lizes the newest concepts in Adult Education, and it gives participants an academic back-
ground in either media technology or library technology.

TRAINING PROGRAM STAFF
